Orthodontic Facts
Dr. Grace Richardson is the only practicing Orthodontist in the Pictou and Antigonish Counties.
An orthodontist has completed full-time studies for at least an additional 2 years (at an accredited Orthodontic specialty training program) after graduating with their doctor of dental surgery degree.
To practice Orthodontics, Dr. Richardson is required by the NS Dental Board to take 30 hours of continuing education each year. As a result, she is knowledgeable on current technology and new treatment modalities which provides her patients with more options.
Dr. Richardson is an expert at moving teeth and achieving a healthy smile. Not all results are the same! An orthodontist is a specialist in manipulating teeth to achieve a proper bite – not just straightened teeth.
Dr. Richardson is involved in every part of patient treatment from beginning to end. She is solely responsible for the diagnosis, treatment plan, every treatment decision for every patient at every appointment.
Our treatment fee includes all braces, appliances, lab fees, progress X-rays, and one set of retainers at the end of treatment. There are no surprise fees or additional billings to your insurance company. You may be surprised to learn that our fees are very reasonable and are less than some other offices (including general dentists).
Dr. Richardson is proud to offer her patients digital X-rays (low dose radiation), Itero intra-oral scanning, and the most advanced imaging software available.
Dr. Richardson is a premier-preferred Invisalign provider. The treatment fee for Invisalign is the same as for braces in our office.
Dr. Richardson can provide Vivera retainers for those patients who want additional retainers when their braces are removed. For a very reasonable additional fee, patients can elect to have 4 sets of these retainers made for the price of one, providing long lasting maintenance of their perfect smiles.
Dr. Richardson’s office provides direct billing to insurance companies to eliminate the burden of submitting forms and to and make the financial process easier. Our office also offers interest free in-office financing, and will do our best to make treatment affordable to our patients.
The Canadian Orthodontic Association recommends that children have their first orthodontic screening appointment by the age of 7 by an accredited Orthodontist. Patients are welcome to self-refer and can contact us directly to arrange a consultation with Dr. Richardson.
