Dr. Grace Richardson: Orthodontist

Dr. Grace Richardson grew up in Stellarton where she now lives with her husband and two daughters.   She has been a practicing Orthodontist for over 10 years, and is happy to be back working in her hometown where she opened a new office in April of 2011.   Dr. Richardson now has a second location in Antigonish, which celebrated its grand opening in August of 2012.  Between working in these two locations, raising two young children, and  managing a small army of pets, Dr. Grace stays very busy.

An Alumni of St. F. X U., Dr. Richardson earned Bachelor Degrees in Consumer Studies and Education in 1990 and 1991.  Her four-year teaching career at the junior high level included a 2-year term in Yellowknife in the Northwest Territories.  A highlight of her life in her early 20’s, she developed a greater appreciation for the cultural diversity of our country and the uniqueness and beauty of the Canadian north.

In 1997 Dr.  Richardson enrolled in Dental school at Dalhousie University where she later earned numerous awards and graduated at the top of her class.  One of only a few dentists to ever achieve admission directly into the speciality of Orthodontics from dental school, Dr. Richardson competitively earned a position at Marquette University’s Orthodontic program. Along with 4 other successful candidates, Dr. Richardson and her male colleagues were among hundreds of applicants from within North American and internationally to achieve admission.

After graduating from Marquette in 2003, Dr. Grace remained in the Milwaukee area where she practised orthodontics for several years before returning to Nova Scotia.   If asked about her proudest accomplishments, it would be being a mother to her two girls and her ability to raise her family with the demands of a busy schedule.   She gives credit to her husband of over 10 years with helping her balance their lives while pursuing her career.

Dr. Richardson has had a lifelong passion and love of animals, and has two rescue cats and a golden retriever.  Now that she is living and working in a smaller community, she hopes to spend more time with her girls, and more time enjoying the outdoors on the beautiful Albion trail and other Pictou County treasures.

Our Mission: We are committed to providing above average patient care on the journey to creating a beautiful, healthy, confident smile.  Our goal is for every patient to have a superior Orthodontic experience and an outstanding result.
